THE LIBRARY

With cheerleading in full force, me and Madison found ourselves in a small dilemma. What were we supposed to do for an hour and half while Trinity practiced? I wasn't about to drive all the way home just to turn around and drive back, since we live about 30 minutes away. It would be just a waste of gas and time.
During the first practice we just waited in the car (they practice outside), and that did not go well. It was 90 degrees outside and even with all the windows down, we were miserable. That was just not going to work. So the second time, I was a little smarter. We went to to the car wash and vacuumed out the car in preparation for the long drive to the before mentioned Jubilee. Then, since I had received Back-to-School gift cards from church, we went and got Madison some new shoes for school.
On Tuesday, we went to the Library. I had to cough over ten bucks for some overdue fines I had accrued years ago, but I was reinstated (thanks to Madison, who is such a charmer she scored a free coloring book).

I left Madison in the childrens section to browse the shelves while I went on a hunt of my own. It had been a very long time since I actually read a book, so I was excited. Here's what I got...

**The fourth installment to the Stephen Kings series The Dark Tower. I have read the first three books several times and look forward to see what happens next.

++A funny book about motherhood. I read the review somewhere and it was hilarious so I thought I'd give it a shot

**A book by one of my most favorite fiction writers, Harlan Coben. I stumbled across him years ago and have enjoyed every one of his books since.

**Madison wanted the book about germs, why I don't know. She is quite funny, however, when she "reads" it. She makes up her own versions and they all somehow include a fairy princess.

After we checked out our books, we walked a short distance to the nearby park. Madison played on the playground, and of course made a little friend, and I was able to sit on a sunny bench and read a book. It was the most relaxing time I've had in a long time. Reading has been a great passion of mine since forever, and it was nice to be reminded of that. I love a great story. I love to be swept away into someone elses words and worlds, even if just for a minute.
As we walked back to the car, hand in hand, Madison exclaimed that it was a great day. I laughed, squeezed her hand, and told her that she was absolutely right.

I can't believe they let you through the door, much less check out books!! Don't they know you were banned from every library in Milwaukee by the time you were 14 years of age??????

As for Madison, my sweet princess, what a wonderful world you have introduced her to.

At least SOME good came out of it!
